The Football Association of France (FAF) and the Federation of French Football (FFF) have been notified by FIFA that the French national team has been declared ineligible to compete in the FIFA World Cups 2018 and 2022.
The news came as France prepares to host the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The FAF and the FFFF have both confirmed the news to the press.
The FFF has also confirmed the French team will not participate in the 2019 World Cup.
“The FAFs notification to FIFA is a very positive step for French football.
It gives the French federation the right to play in the next two World Cups,” FAF president and FIFA vice-president Jean-Michel Aulas said in a statement.”
We have always said that our federation will participate in any World Cup,” he added.”
Our decision will be taken in the coming days and we will soon have our explanation and explanations to FIFA.”
The announcement comes after the FAF was granted provisional provisional permission to play for the 2022 FIFA World Club Cup in March, which is also being held in the Gulf state.
